Update: 10-14-24

Riding the Wave of Earnings Season!    Issachar Update: Issachar is fully invested in growth stocks with accelerating earnings and sales, positioned to benefit from the expansion of AI. We hold approximately 23% in a Gold ETF as a hedge against inflation and as a safeguard in the event of geopolitical turmoil. With earnings season underway, I plan to sell most stocks before their earnings reports and reinvest the gains in stocks approaching key price levels. As the market rises, we’ll continue to manage risk and capitalize on the momentum while it lasts. (Please note, there’s no guarantee that any investment will meet its objectives, generate positive returns, or avoid losses.)

Market Update: The S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 are hovering near all-time highs, with positive trends leading up to the November 5th election. The market is optimistic, and investors are placing their bets on top-performing stocks. The Las Vegas betting market suggests that a Trump victory would favor businesses, prompting significant investment ahead of the election. However, approximately $6.3 trillion remains in money markets, indicating some caution among investors before the election. Should Trump win, much of this sidelined capital will likely flow into the bull market.

The Fed has initiated a “rate-cutting” cycle with a rare 50-basis point reduction, which could signal more cuts. Lower rates on shorter-term bonds can act as a catalyst for rising stock prices. However, the long end of the yield curve is trending upward, suggesting concerns about inflation. Additionally, the strengthening dollar supports the legitimacy of this rise in long-term yields.

AI is entering a multi-year development phase poised to transform the world. The demand for energy in AI data centers is reviving interest in nuclear power as a viable alternative. Atomic energy is cost-effective, clean, green, and safe, invigorating many utility stocks.

Gold is the second-largest global central bank reserve asset, following the dollar and the Euro. I suspect that major central banks are accumulating gold in preparation for the potential reintroduction of a fiat currency backed by it. As purchasing power diminishes due to inflation, governments may consider issuing a new asset-backed central bank digital currency—though it’s unlikely to be Bitcoin, which has a finite supply and is less controllable, making it more suitable for speculators.

Bottom line: Issachar is heavily invested in AI-focused growth stocks and gold, anticipating these trends will continue until the election. I may hedge our long positions with index short ETFs before the election or accumulate cash to see how the market reacts post-election. China’s significant liquidity injection into the market is expected to lift stocks before the election. May God’s grace, peace, and wisdom be with you always!

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10
