Update: 10-07-24

AI Theme Investing!      Issachar Update: Issachar is fully invested in AI-themed growth stocks and gold (approximately 23%) as a hedge against inflation. Gold is trading near an all-time high of about $2,650 per ounce, driven by central banks’ ongoing accumulation. Interestingly, utility stocks—often seen as slow and dull—have performed remarkably well, thanks to AI companies securing long-term electricity contracts for their huge data centers. This AI data center expansion is just beginning and is expected to continue for years, suggesting the AI theme will keep gaining momentum. With the AI revolution underway, we plan to manage risk and capitalize on emerging opportunities as stock charts unfold. Market Update: The S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 have been consolidating gains in a sideways pattern, preferable to a “break-out” rally that could lead to corrections. Growth stocks with accelerating earnings and sales are being accumulated, rewarding investors willing to take risks. The Fed’s recent 50bps rate cut and China’s significant liquidity injections have further fueled stock buying activity. The Fed may seek to stimulate the economy before the election to mitigate voters’ concerns about inflation. At the same time, China seems focused on revitalizing its struggling economy to counter potential tariffs under a Trump presidency.

Last Friday’s jobs report showed 254,000 jobs created in September—well above the 150,000 expected—though it’s worth noting that this number was not adjusted for the return of teachers. According to the Household Survey, 86% of the jobs created were in government. Is the government trying to bolster the economy’s appearance to sway voters ahead of the election?

The stock market interpreted the stronger-than-expected jobs report positively, leading to a rally in stock indexes. Meanwhile, bond prices fell, pushing the 10-year Treasury yield near 4% as more employment can contribute to inflation. This yield rise strengthened the dollar as foreign investors sought higher yields on U.S. Treasuries. Additionally, oil prices have surged over 14% since September 10, contributing to higher gas prices and inflation. The Fed justified its rate cut by suggesting inflation is “tame,” but that narrative now seems weak.

Bottom line: Issachar is fully invested, anticipating institutional investors’ ongoing accumulation of AI-themed stocks. Uranium, used in nuclear power generation, has also been trending upward, reinforcing the demand for energy in AI data centers. Gold, at an all-time high, remains a historical hedge against inflation and serves as a “haven” during times of uncertainty, such as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. With Washington showing no signs of addressing the $2 trillion annual deficit or the $35 trillion national debt, I expect gold to continue its upward trajectory. May God’s Grace, Peace, and Wisdom be with you forever!

The 1916 Project and Reagan are great movies to “Understand” the world today.
